Confirmed Attendees for Venice Film Festival: Adam Driver, Caleb Landry Jones, Jessica Chastain, and Mads Mikkelsen
The participation of renowned actors at the Venice Film Festival has been officially announced. Adam Driver is set to grace the red carpet on Lido to promote “Ferrari,” where he portrays Enzo Ferrari, the pioneering Italian car racer, in Micheal Mann’s film. Caleb Landry Jones will attend for Luc Besson’s “Dogman,” while Mads Mikkelsen is making the journey for Danish director Nikolaj Arcel’s “The Promised Land.” Jessica Chastain, known for her Oscar-winning role in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” will appear in Mexican director Michel Franco’s “Memory,” marking her return to the screen.
Other notable figures expected at the event include Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, playing Priscilla and Elvis Presley in Sophia Coppola’s “Priscilla.” The real Priscilla Presley will also be present. Notably, all the mentioned films have acquired SAG-AFTRA interim waivers due to their independent production status, not affiliated with AMPTP members.
Kiefer Sutherland is reportedly likely to pay tribute to the late William Friedkin’s final film, “The Caine Mutiny Court Martial,” even though it’s produced by Showtime and Paramount Global, both of which are AMPTP members, as reported by Italian news agency ANSA.
Despite a slight impact from the SAG-AFTRA strike, the Venice party scene continues with vitality. An Armani event linked to Cate Blanchett remains the only cancellation.
In a significant milestone, Ava DuVernay’s “Origin,” based on Isabel Wilkerson’s “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents,” marks the first work by an African American woman director to compete in the Venice Film Festival. DuVernay will be honored by amfAR, an international AIDS organization, during a gala dinner, featuring performances by Rita Ora and Leona Lewis. However, the attendance of the film’s stars, including Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Niecy Nash-Betts, Jon Bernthal, and Vera Farmiga, remains uncertain.
The 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival is scheduled to take place from August 30th to September 9th.
