WhatsApp has launched its latest Mac application, featuring increased speed and a new group calling function.
WhatsApp has introduced its latest Mac application, promising enhanced speed and functionality, particularly for group calls. While WhatsApp has had a presence on Mac systems, the previous version offered by Meta had performance issues and was not user-friendly. Today marks the official launch of Meta’s revamped native Mac app, which comes with the highly anticipated group calling feature and various other enhancements.
This updated version has successfully undergone beta testing over the past few months and is now ready for general use. Among its improvements is the capability to receive WhatsApp calls without the need to keep the application open.
The newly released WhatsApp app for Mac brings an unprecedented feature: the ability to initiate group calls directly from your Mac computer. This allows you to engage in video calls with up to 8 participants and audio calls with as many as 32 participants. Furthermore, you can now join ongoing group calls, access your call history, and even opt to receive incoming call notifications even when the application is not active.
Although the previous version of WhatsApp (which essentially wrapped around the website) remains available on the Mac App Store temporarily, the improved native version can be acquired now, well before its official debut on the App Store.
